Sometimes moving feels endless. Even after you have moved in, there are still so many things to do. We’ll do everything we can to make moving easier for you, including providing you with this handy checklist of post-move duties to tackle. Below is a continuation of last week’s checklist :
6. Register your vehicle
If you have moved across provinces or country borders, remember to register your car and apply for a new driver’s license. At times, you may also need new tags and license plates for your vehicles. Check your local BCAA for more information.
7. Register to vote
If you have moved to another province or city, make sure you are on the voter’s registration for your local area. Make sure to also update all of your important government files and documents with your new address.
8. Acquaint yourself with your new neighborhood
Spend some time visiting local amenities and apply for subscriptions to the local magazines and newspapers. This will help you get up to speed on the latest trends in your community. Go exploring and find out where you can get everything you need and also a little of what you just plain old want.
9. Forward your mail
Confirm with the post office or your old residence that your mail is being forwarded and that you have registered your new address. Make sure you have notified everyone on your contact list of your new change of address as well.
10. Find new health professionals
Check the local listings for new family physicians, dentists, vets, etc. This task can be delayed to a certain extent, but it is better to do it within the first few weeks of moving in case of emergency.
